So You Made It... |
Welcome to the blog! I created this to compile and make available mermaid resources, DIY ideas, gooey-touchy-feelings/opinions, and my wonderful husband's comfort food recipes! On this page, you'll find all facts about me, my weirdness, and the things I love passionately.
What IS the Nautical Imp?
My blog serves as a selection of resources and updates not only for all you mermaids out there, but also for those who are interested in my journey as a DIYer and contemplative.
My branding, however, comes from my quirky hobby of mermaiding. Ah yes, the obscurity that surrounds that term relieves me of tension (Mermaiding is an incredible exercise outlet that focuses on graceful movement and sustaining homeostasis in the water). You see, an Imp is a mythological being that originated in Germany, often described as some form of mischievous fairy. I interpreted this to be another cool definition of 'mermaid', as many early mermaid creatures in mythology were referred to as mischievous creatures of the sea before they acquired a title. Nautical, refers to everything sea-worthy... navigation and sailing in particular, which I found suiting to my branding because I treat my journey through life more like a carefully navigated trip across a foreign and unpredictable sea-scape of life. 'Nautical' refers to not only to the water-relation of a mermaid as an 'Imp', but also to my outlook that life is a journey led by God, and I get to stand at the wheel to witness.

Who am i?
My Background
I grew up in Pastor's family, which as some of you may know, is a pretty incredible experience. It presents some unusual upbringing, as well as challenges that made me into who I am today. I love my family profusely, and I couldn't live without them. My parents are hardcore Harley-riders, which is totally awesome; and all three of my younger siblings are hardcore awesome people as well! My younger sister is an amigo to all horses, my brother is an aspiring digital artist, and my youngest brother is probably the sassiest little bean on the face of the earth.
Also I'm a mermaid,
So that's pretty cool... Seriously though, I love mermaiding; and I have my best friend Faith to blame for it. In the beginning of college, I had zero x zero friends (other than my dearly beloved, Aiden), and this nerdy girl just happened to invite me out to the pool, and force my feet into a mermaid tail. Fast forward three years, We're best friends to today! And I love swimming with her whenever I get the chance. I go swimming whenever I can with our pod, 'Mermaids of BC', and love our community! My Purpose
I truly believe that my existence is set for the advocacy of youth and families in realizing their giftings and purpose under God. I believe that community is essential to recognizing God's most incredible evangelical method: relationship, and my desire is to build community that recognizes the value of each and every one of its members.
I would one day love to lead a program overseas to advocate for community and wildlife sustainability, exploring how Creation-Care and harmony can allow us to worship God more deeply. |
